The Most Willing Father

My father died when I was 15, but in my early years I don’t ever remember having to coax him to buy me shoes that I needed or food when I was hungry. My earthly father knew I needed those things and happily provided them. My Heavenly Father is even more eager to provide for me:

"Which of you fathers, if your son asks for a fish, will give him a snake instead? Or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!" (Luke 11:11-13).

I love that He says, “How much more!” God is infinitely more willing than the best of earthly fathers. Once we have entered into God’s family, we gain immediate access to the Father’s promises of provision.

Thank you, Father, for assuming responsibility for my needs.
